When you enter a dollar amount to buy, you might not spend the full amount because Polymarket US only supports whole contracts. Any leftover funds go straight back to your cash balance. Your portfolio then shows only the value of the contracts you received, which can make the position look slightly down at first even though you did not lose anything.
